Talk about IRONY!

It seems very ironic to me that a black president who has declared that he will not tolerate racism in any form, is now constantly the first too jump right to the race card. One of the greatest ironies in the history of the United States to me is that while our president, who has broken the privacy act by requesting that everyone send in any misleading info about his health plan, would ask everyone to SHUT UP if you basically disagree with anything he says, and then call us organized mobs because we disagree with him. It is ironic because, does anyone recall the 60's and a little movement by the black community. Talk about organized, these people did all they could to change what they knew was immoral and wrong, and yet it was o.k. that they grouped and fought the government, but now we have a black president that hates that anyone would group together to fight the government. I would like to point out that if you look real close at the "mob" you will see a lot of older people and sick people with hand made signs. Yet on the other side of the debate is a whole lot of young people (probably paid to come) with very professionally made signs. Who is the organized ones. And I would like to point out that not one time did violence enter these town hall meetings until ACORN and SEIU showed up to help out with things. Does anyone out there care that it is not the 15th amendment or the 25th, but it is the 1st and most fundamental right we have, to speak what we will. Is anyone annoyed that our last president was ridiculed, made fun of, and mistreated more than anyone else, yet we can not say anything against this president. I tell everyone that tells me to get over my anger and show this president the respect he deserves because of his office, that I will show him the same or as much respect that he himself showed his president. Since when did we turn our government into rock stars instead of what they are, PUBLIC SERVANTS. They work for us, not the other way around. Obama deserves to be treated the same way he treated President Bush.

  1. Hi Jake! I saw your blog and enjoyed reading the entries. I'm glad you've found a way to express your thoughts on some of these things. It is hard to sit back and watch crap happen and not want to say something about it. Blogs are nice for making yourself heard, in a way.

Just a quick response to the most recent entry:

I don't know if the "flag" email thing was technically a violation of the privacy act. They didn't intend for people to send in personal contact information and when that started happening they immediately shut it down. True, it was kind of a dumb and not very well thought out idea to begin with, but it seems like the intention (to collect misinformation or rumors being spread about the health care proposals so that they could adequately respond to and correct the misinformation) wasn't a bad one. Productive debate works much better when everyone involved is well-informed on an issue, and a lot of the heated discussion going on in these townhall meetings has been a result of bad information, willful ignorance, and a tendency to jump to conclusions (on both sides) rather than really listen to each other and learn the facts. It's a strange time for sure.
